History of 40DC | Meet Founder: Jaketha Farmer

HISTORY OF 40DC

Based on Matthew 6:33-34, the 40 Days of Change Online (40DC) is a private Christian social networking (or Ning) community that offers interactive and practical life application training to its community members. Through the group-version of the 40-Day (Change) Challenge, which is offered three times year, along with other "destiny and change-focused" products and services, we are able to meet the spiritual, emotional and relational needs of current and future destiny seekers who strive daily for maturity in Christ. The "mandate from God" regarding the 40-Day (Change)Challenge came on the night of Thursday, April 30, 2009, when God impressed upon me Minister Jaketha:

"To spend the next 40 days not worrying about her job, home, car and family issues but rather focus her time 'hitting the ground running' toward select goals that He has had in place for her."

In other words, God was calling her to focus on her destiny along with renewing her relationship with Him. Just weeks before the 3rd Challenge, God impressed followed a confirmation from a friend two weeks later to open a private community for ministering to other weary and heavy-laden Christians using the 40-Day Challenge. Both the Challenges and the Community provide a means of helping Christians identify, clarify and walk in their purpose.

The 40 Days of Change online community was birthed on August 29, 2009 and held its first virtual 40-Day Challenge (for groups) from August 31st through October 9th of the same year. The next group Challenge begins January 4, 2010.

40DC FOUNDER

Minister Jaketha Farmer, founder, teacher and administrator for 40 Days of Change Online, is a Generation Xer whose lived a life far beyond her years. From experiencing a rather "grown up" childhood consisting of emotional, verbal and sexual abuse and a lot of caring for adult relatives with various physical and mental health issues, her restored life is truly the epitome of "working out your own salvation with fear and trembling…” Now, in her mid-30s, she has adopted the following life purpose:

"In a creative spirit of excellence, my mission is to inspire certain weary and heavy-laden individuals by devising and launching spiritual resources for a destiny-focused life."

In late-2007, Jaketha returned to Shreveport / Bossier City, Louisiana, with an intent of restoring her life along with building on her past to birth a dream consisting of several entrepreneurial ventures, including this Christian community, "40 Days of Change Online" and a forthcoming publishing company called ISH-OOS™ Publishing. She also founded, produce and host her own Christian Internet talk radio ministry called Got ISH-OOS?, which is based on Proverbs 4:23.

In early 2008, Jaketha earned a general pastors license in pastoral counseling from Our Daily Bread (ODB) Missions, Ministries and Bible Institute. She has also completed partial coursework toward a certified biblical counselor status with the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC). She is a member of AACC, the Black African American Christian Counselors (BAACC) - a division of AACC and the Christian Media Association (CMA). Jaketha holds a Bachelor and a Master's degrees in Engineering Technology along with a second Master's in Training & Development all from The University of Southern Mississippi.
